Spacecraft: Other:
Voyagers 1 & 2

Summary:Voyagers 1 and 2.
Description:Voyager 1 was launched on September 5, 1977, and Voyager 2 was launched on August 20, 1977. Both of these spacecraft are still moving away from us in space. Voyager 1 represents the farthest man-made object ever to have been launched from the Earth, and Jack's add-on is an accurate representation of both spacecraft. Simply follow his instructions in the "Add-on-Read-me.txt" file to install.

I understand that xyz trajectories should end at some point, but at this point voyagers could be probably just put on elliptical orbits around the Milky Way. It would be much better solution than just stopping them.

in 42,000 years, Voyager 1 is passing near the red dwarf star, AC+79 3888.

in 298,000 Years, Voyager 2 is approaching Sirius.

For reference to downloaders – this add-on simulates the twin Voyager spacecraft; however, it is limited in timescale, and in some ways behaves oddly. Both spacecraft appear several hours before they start moving; and both spacecraft stop moving at the end of their trajectories, but don't disappear (at least, not for several thousand years).

Voyager 2 appears at CE 1977 August 20 11:59:11 UTC, and starts moving at 16:49:11 UTC. It stops moving at CE 2020 December 24 23:58:08 UTC, at a distance of 125.80 AU from the sun.

Voyager 1 appears at CE 1977 September 5 11:59:11 UTC, and starts moving at 15:15:11 UTC. It stops moving at CE 2009 December 25 23:58:16 UTC, at a distance of 112.11 AU from the sun.

Despite these oddities, I found the add-on satisfying. (I really only needed Voyager 2's position up to 1989 October 2, and Voyager 1's position up to 1990 February 14.)

Thank you, mister Higgins.

Nice, but WHY do they have to stop moving through Space? I wished I'd see them entering other star systems in a distant future, but they seem to stop at the 'Fixed Stars Sphere'...
